Best car seat for a small car?

My daughter is 9 1/2 months old and in the 95th percentile for height and weight. She is just about ready to move out of her infant seat and into a convertible car seat. My problem is that I drive a pontiac sunfire. The back seat is pretty small and fairly tight with just the infant seat in there.
I’ve read lots of reviews, but Im looking for info from parents who drive similar size cars to mine.
I will be buying a more baby friendly car, but that’s not in the budget until the new year, so I need something that fits now.
Also…do I need one that has a 65 lb weight restriction or is 45lbs sufficient?
