The ‘key’ to carseats is that every step ‘up’ is a step down in safety. So you want your child to *rearface* as long as possible… then be in a five point harness (harness is secured in five places: at the shoulders, hips and between the legs) as long as possible… and then stay in a belt positioning booster seat until they *really* fit in an adult seat belt.

Even though your child meets the ‘minimum’ standards for forward facing by most laws…. who wants their child to be *minimally* safe?? Experts recommend children stay rearfacing until they outgrow the seat’s rearfacing limits for height or weight. The MyRide65 is one of the first seats in the US to allow you to rearface your child to as much as *40 pounds* for added safety. (The Evenflo you mentioned goes to 35 pounds rearfacing.)

Many seats won’t even keep the child harnessed any longer than 40 pounds! And then the MyRide65 gets it’s name from the fact that it will keep them harnessed to 65 pounds. (Evenflo = 50 pounds.)

The only concern I’ve heard is that children with a long torso may outgrow the MyRide65 rearfacing by height (which happens when there is less than one inch of shell above the child’s head) by 35 pounds anyway… which makes the extra pounds pointless.

Still… you get 15 pounds more with the harness before going to a booster seat *waaaay* down the line. I think if you are definately going for one of these two seats… I’d get the MyRide65.
